Up at Cloud Cuckoo Athletics Club, all the birds were excited about the forthcoming Olympic games which were to be held in a few weeks. They sat around in the clubhouse talking about all the activities which they wanted to compete in. In fact the birds were much better at talking about their sports than actually practising them.

Luckily, a new bird had been appointed to get the birds into training for the big day. Linford Lightfoot the Roadrunner was a world class athlete. Just as his name suggested he was a great runner and he had won many medals in his time. Linford had noticed that the other birds had let themselves become lazy and unhealthy, so it was his job to whip them into shape in time for the games.
